black hug

IRENE RUSSO – 2017

The work of Irene Russo was born with the intent of raising awareness around the theme of wildfires, with a particular attention to her place of origin, Campania. The wooden structure is carbonized superficially to recall the black color of fires, realizing a structure which develops around three trees and surrounds them as a symbiotic hug between nature and humans.

The sequence of branches becomes a sort of guide, decrescent, which conducts the watcher towards the observation of this short path in which the carbonized black blends its smell to the claustrophobic sensation of the hug, which decreases through the path, leading the watcher to reconciliation.
