black hug
IRENE RUSSO – 2017
Irene Russo’s work was born with the aim of raising awareness regarding arson, with particular attention to those which saw her homeland, Campania, as the protagonist. The wooden structure was charred on the surface to recall the black color of fires, creating a structure that winds sinuously around 3 trees and envelops them as if in a symbolic embrace between man and nature.
The succession of woods becomes a sort of decreasing guideline, which leads the user to follow this short journey in which the blackness of carbonisation joins its smell and the claustrophobic sensation of the embrace, which loosens during the journey, inviting the user to reconcile with nature.
