COW SHOW

PAOLO VIVIAN – 2012

Paolo Vivian’s work is a consideration of the forms of nature and their material and figurative correspondences. In a clearing where cows graze before reaching the mountain pastures, the artist places some stone blocks. The natural stones that pass through the history of the earth are for the artist like clouds that form and dissolve, they too can take on shapes that recall the appearance of real or imaginary animals.

The stones represent earthly matter and correspond to nature, the clouds are the spiritual and immaterial, ethereal part. With an intervention on the stones, through their positioning and the addition of iron pieces, the artist makes recognizable presences that previously were confused and went unnoticed, creating a bridge between the lightness of the sky and the weight of the earth.
