FLOATING SPHERE
JAN LANGER & MARKUS GASSER – 2024
The “Floating Spheres” are a constant in Jan Langer’s artistic work in nature. The apparent absence of gravity becomes an expression of strength, the essence of the creative possibilities of the landscape in which it is found, thus resulting in a kind of passage, an initiative ritual, necessary before being able to create other works. “The Floating Sphere” is an ephemeral installation that dialogues with the surrounding environment in an always unique way depending on the season in which it is located, while maintaining a constant unity with the landscape and its peculiarities.
This precise location captured the attention of the artists for its singular morphology: these four trunks, starting first from a common base, then widen as they rise towards the sky, thus forming a protected space with great visual impact also enhanced by the installation, made with curved pine branches – the prevalent tree within the park – and white-dyed rope.
