LUCA MAUCERI – 2021
Luca Mauceri’s artwork is inspired by a buddist iconographic motif: the big eyes painted on Buddhist’s stupas, which represent inner sight. The eyes, in this case, symbolise the unbreakable union between people and nature. The choice of “humanising” the natural environment, for instance the forest, is used as a reminder of the symbiosis of man and the environment. The big eyes painted on the stupas are also portrayed with the symbol of One, the whole which we are part of. This artwork is an invitation to be aware of this.
Nature is watching us and it observes what we are doing, everyday it tries to tell us to change direction. Let’s listen to it, in the same way it patiently does with us.
