SONOROUS ALAMBIC
ANGELO MORANDINI – 2013
Four wooden beams planted in the ground obey the verticality of the pines. They are four stylised trees, a geometric synthesis of their shape and their progression, and they are four antennas reaching towards the sky to capture and deliver new suggestions to the soundscape of the pine forest. They collect frequencies, waves and vibrations from the ether, distilling these volatile elements to introduce them discreetly into the pine forest, where they mix and intertwine with the sounds present, until they compose a dense or rarefied dialogue, rhythmic or cadenced depending on the time of day, the weather conditions and the season.
NA small “crystal radio” is inserted into the beam, a rudimentary device made by the artist with copper, a germanium diode, a small amplifier powered by solar energy and a magnet wrapped in copper that makes the wood vibrate along its entire length: just touch it with an ear.
