UNDERSKY

FLAVIA BUCCI – 2025

The artwork stems from a reflection on time, understood not only as a chronological measure but as a cultural structure that shapes our behaviors and habits. The artist approaches time as a long succession of deadlines—a rigid framework that governs productivity and leaves little room for inner listening. Through the repetition of a simple, almost ritualistic gesture, a process takes shape that interrupts this linearity, opening up an alternative space where time can be experienced rather than merely consumed.

The research focuses on the dialectic between productive time and dead time. Time marked by boredom, emptiness, and suspension is interpreted as a necessary condition for thought, contemplation, and the generation of meaning. The work takes the form of a visual and mental “decluttering”: an attempt at subtraction, of making space, of emptying the full in order to restore value to what is essential.

The nocturnes that make up the installation resemble light clouds—fluid forms that resist definition, evoking a mental landscape where emptiness is not absence but potential: an active device, a field of possibilities where ideas can settle and transform. It is an invitation to slow down, to observe, and to inhabit time with a renewed gaze.
