GEORGIA MATTEI PALMERINI – 2021

Georgia Matteini Palmerini’s work is born from an emotional memory, of when as a child she went on holiday with her parents and together with her father, an entomologist, she collected everything. A custom of her family was to collect, collect and catalogue, habits that have become part of her DNA. It is from this past that she inherited the fascination for nature in general and for these microcosms of life.

From micro to macro, to see the invisible. The installation reproduces eggs of Phasmids (order Phasmatidae), also known as stick insects, reinterpreted on a 78:1 scale through an equally fascinating material such as ceramic, more precisely stoneware. They are magical eggs, emblems of lightness, beauty and delicacy, symbols of a future becoming, still all to be imagined, all to be experienced. These objects become an element of discovery, a metaphorical emblem of a transformation that takes place almost in invisibility but from which wonderful elements will come to life. A suspended effect reverberates in the surrounding environment.
