OZ, I’VE LOST MY HEAD

EMANUELE MARULLO – 2026

The praying mantis is a symbol of patience, mindfulness, and perfect harmony with the environment. Motionless and vigilant, it observes its surroundings without altering them, becoming the emblem of a discreet yet intense presence. Crafted through a skillful weaving of willow branches, the sculpture grows vertically among the trees, as if it had developed alongside the woods and had always belonged to this place. Its light and transparent forms allow light, wind, and vegetation to pass through, creating a continuous dialogue between artwork and nature.

The title, ironic and evocative, also suggests a state of bewilderment, inviting us to move beyond an exclusively rational view of reality. The mantis thus guides the visitor to slow down, sharpen their gaze, and rediscover the value of waiting and observing. Like this extraordinary insect, human beings are also called to pause, listen, and find a deeper, more mindful connection with the surrounding landscape.
