SERAC
ERWIN RIZZARDI – 2026
The landscape of the Ledro Valley, shaped over millennia by glacial action and the continuous transformation of nature, serves as the starting point for this artwork. Inspired by the imposing and unstable forms of alpine seracs, the installation reflects on climate change and the progressive retreat of glacial masses—a clear symbol of an increasingly fragile natural balance. The deep fracture dividing the structure tells a story of instability, transformation, and the metamorphosis of the contemporary landscape.
Reflecting surfaces capture the light and fragment the images of the surrounding woods, actively involving both the environment and the visitors themselves in the artwork. Meanwhile, the wooden poles recall local building traditions and the ancient pile dwellings of Lake Ledro, evoking humanity’s attempt to support and preserve what is naturally destined to change. Seracco thus creates a dialogue between geological memory and the present day, inviting us to reflect on the vulnerability of alpine ecosystems and our responsibility toward the environment.
